Today, architecture is at square one. As a society, we are facing an immense urban restructuring challenge, both economically and socially. Over 50% of the world population currently resides in an urban environment and by 2050 this number will reach 75%, adding an additional 45 mega cites of 10+ million each. City planning and development need a comprehensive reassessment, which at micro level boils down to innovative and forward architecture. New energy solutions, sustainable construction materials and a social reprogramming from individualist to collective behaviors are only part of the solution.
The vision behind, and motivation for my work is to explore an interdisciplinary and integrated approach to design, utilizing architecture as a tool to create intelligent and sustainable design solutions in space and place with timeless beauty. I enjoy the problem solving challenges at the smallest of details because the sum of all solutions yields a functional and efficient structure. My ultimate satisfaction derives from experiencing a design come to life as intended with happy clients, users and a long life span that serves both community and environment. I have completed a Bachelor in Geography with a concentration in Urban & Development studies at the University of Victoria. To further hone my technical skill set, I completed the Architectural Building Technology program (ABET) at the British Columbia Technology Institute.
